Improv Workshops
Have fun while learning something new in our rotating series of one-off workshops taught by Seattle’s most devoted improv coaches.
3-hour intensive workshop!
Ever wanted to build a story that has room to breathe, grow, and explode? The Monoscene is improv’s closest cousin to the one-act play: a single continuous scene where characters evolve, relationships deepen, and the world becomes richer with every choice.
In this workshop, we'll explore how to create compelling characters, uncover the games hidden within relationships, and use those discoveries to fuel an entire piece. Instead of jumping from scene to scene, we'll stay in one world long enough to watch it transform—finding the patterns, stakes, and emotional truths that make audiences lean in.
Like any great Bandit adventure, the goal isn't just to wander into chaos (though there will be plenty of that). It's to build toward something bigger: a thrilling crescendo where every choice, callback, and character arc collides in a satisfying finale.
Come ready to play, commit, and see just how far one scene can take you.

3-hour intensive workshop!
The Pretty Flower begins with the strong spine of a Monoscene: a single continuous scene where relationships, characters, and stakes unfold in real time. Throughout the performance, players may tag out to explore moments, memories, fantasies, side stories, or unseen corners of the world surrounding the central scene. These exploratory tags expand the universe of the piece, adding depth, context, and texture before seamlessly returning to the main storyline.
Like petals growing from a single stem, each exploration reveals new dimensions of the characters and their world while remaining connected to the core narrative. The result is a rich, cinematic improvisation that balances the emotional investment of a Monoscene with the imaginative freedom of world expansion.

No experience required!
So often in improv we are whizzing through our scenes to find the unusual pattern of behavior. Like a train careening down the track, we feel we must race to the finish. By slowing down and letting our bodies and minds rest in the environment around us we are able to more fully imagine the space we are conjuring. Through this state of patient play we can fully invest in our characters and allow our unusual patterns of behavior to organically appear without the force and fear that comes from inventing in the moment. When we play in this heightened state of being we will allow ourselves to really listen to ourselves and our scene partners. We become so tuned in that we miss nothing and use everything.
This workshop will focus on slowing down through meditation and staying in that flow through the scene work.

COMING AGAIN SOON—STAY TUNED!
You know what makes a better Harold? Doing a Harold. Then another one. Then another one. This three-hour workshop is exactly what it sounds like: we’re going to run Harolds over and over — with clear, actionable notes in between.
Over the course of the session, we’ll:
Run multiple full Harolds
Get targeted feedback on openings, edits, group games, second beats, and thematic cohesion
Reset and apply notes immediately
Build stamina, clarity, and ensemble awareness
The focus is reps. Muscle memory. Pattern recognition. Getting comfortable living inside the form instead of thinking about the form.
Expect:
Direct, specific notes
Side coaching when useful
Emphasis on bold choices and clean edits
A supportive room that pushes you to level up
This workshop is best for improvisers who already know the Harold structure and want to sharpen their instincts through focused repetition. Less theory. More Harolds. Three hours. Let’s go.

Improv For Witches
This workshop will use magical properties to inspire improv scenes. As the workshop begins we will ground ourselves and cast a protective spell to create a space of safety and security as we delve into the occult to produce comedy. Using the elements, crystals, essential oils, flowers and tarot, this workshop will give a basic understanding of witchcraft and will allow it to spark our imagination to invoke characters and environments we have never played in before.
Improv For Everyone
Have you ever seen an improv show and thought “gosh that looks fun” but never had the opportunity to try it yourself? Now’s your chance! Bandit Theater’s Improv for Everyone is a free two-hour introductory-level workshop with you in mind. No prior performance or comedy experience is expected!
In this workshop you’ll get a taste of hilarious spur-of-the-moment theater through low-stakes exercises that are both approachable and a whole lot of fun. Together we’ll experience a sense of carefree play that celebrates collaboration and stepping out of your head. You’ll meet new people and maybe even discover your new hobby!
Zen and the Art of Improv

This workshop will focus on slowing down through mediation and staying in that flow through the scene work.
Do the Dumb Idea
As children we played pirates and mermaids, knights on extraordinary quests. Fun ideas that had high stakes and existed in the world of the fantastical. Too often in our improv we stay within the confines of our everyday world because of fear.
This workshop will encourage your childlike spirit of play. We will relish in the fun choices we can make, such as doing a scene as a lightbulb or two boxes of hamburger helper on the shelf. Come ready to play pretend like a child on the playground, free of judgement and full of joy.
